Learn about the wonders of taonga pūoro - their origins and how to make and use them.

Join the Haumanu Collective for a fun-filled workshop about taonga pūoro Māori – Māori musical instruments. Try your hand at making as well as playing!

Learn about storytelling, and taonga pūoro with Te Kahureremoa Taumata (Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Tūwharetoa) and Khali Philip-Barbara (Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Uepohatu).

Haumanu Collective are dedicated to the retention and revitalisation of tāonga pūoro. Supported by Ministry of Culture and Heritage and Creative New Zealand this event aims to celebrate this taonga tuku iho. 

Registration is essential for this event.

There is also a taonga pūoro panel talk from 2.30pm–3.30pm, later in the afternoon, and an evening concert from 6.30pm–9.30pm.
