haumanu-ki-kahungunu taonga pūoro wānanga

📅 14th - 16th March 2025 | 📍 Pukemokimoki Marae, Napier

This wānanga is now fully booked out

Haumanu Collective will host an immersive Taonga Pūoro Wānanga at Pukemokimoki Marae, hosted in partnership with Ngāti Kahungunu. This will be a journey into the healing vibrations of taonga pūoro in this free three-day gathering filled with learning, storytelling, and connection.

Taonga pūoro are more than instruments – they are voices of the whenua, whispers of our tūpuna, and powerful tools for healing and connection. This wānanga, themed “Taonga Pūoro: He Rongoā”, will explore the deep restorative power of sound through:

🎶 Pūoro Making – Craft own taonga pūoro to take home.
📖 Pūrākau & Whakapapa – Learn the ancient stories and histories behind these instruments.
🎼 Composition & Playing – Develop skills in playing and composing with taonga pūoro.
🌿 Pūoro from the Taiao – Experience the natural environment’s influence on sound.
💬 Wānanga & Kōrero – Share in discussions about the revitalization and future of taonga pūoro.
