We have drawn from the symbol of the Kōkako being the song bird of flute music. This represents the people and their connection to the voice and the call of taonga pūoro.

The patterns, koru, kaperua, koiri, that fall from the head of the manu and move through the body and around are thoughts, dreams, aspirations and support systems of community and people reviving and breathing life into ‘ngā taonga pūoro me ōna oro, me ōna reo, me ōna tikanga’.

The green spiral form indicates the breath and intention of the Mauri, the life force generated through collective activity and sharing of mātauranga Māori.

This is encapsulated by the red sphere rauponga pākati pattern representing our connections through whakapapa, the continuum of support, past, present and future.
